HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 cc271-2W
Dr. Bray

asked the Secretary of State for Trade on which commodities the Government are currently negotiating with producer-developing countries with a view to agreements on price and supply.

Mr. Deakins

Negotiations for the renewal of international agreements covering tin, cocoa and coffee have recently been successfully concluded. A United Kingdom mission visited all the major tea-producing countries of the Commonwealth at the end of last year to discuss, inter alia, the feasibility of an international tea agreement. These discussions will be renewed in London next month.

The scope for international agreements on other commodities is kept under continuing international review. For example, the United Kingdom, as a member of the EEC, is playing its part in the International Wheat Council, in preparations for discussion of a new International Wheat Agreement.
