Mr. Ted Fletcherasked the Secretary of State for Trade what evidence he has that men's suits, manufactured in East Germany, are being imported into the United Kingdom at a cost of £4.80 each; whether he regards this as dumping; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. DeakinsSuch suits have been offered to at least one United Kingdom company, but I have no evidence of any imports so far. The price quoted certainly suggests a margin of dumping, but the facts of the case are not yet entirely clear. I am having the whole matter investigated as a matter of urgency in order to see what action would be appropriate.
