Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what plans she has for legislation, regulations, or advice concerning a comprehensive system of size markings for children's clothes.

Recommendations for size marking are dealt with in British Standard 3728 while BSI publication PD 6473 gives more recent general information on the marking of garments and also includes sizing of boys' and youths' wear.

There are no plans to introduce legislation or Regulations concerning size markings for childrens' clothes.
