HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 c83W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will make a statement concerning the current delays in obtaining appointments at the Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre at Roehampton.

Mr. Alfred Morris

A recent industrial dispute involving limbfitters has caused some disruption to the appointments programme at Roehampton Limbfitting Centre. Although amputees requiring urgent attention or the provision and fitting of artificial limbs are being little affected, those needing routine follow-up examinations are regrettably having to wait somewhat longer than usual. Special measures are being taken to eliminate, as quickly as possible, the backlog which has built up. These should be assisted by the opening today of a new satellite limbfitting centre for Roehampton at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
