§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonOf the 18,223 persons who pleaded not guilty at the Crown Court in 1973, 51 per cent. were acquitted. In 1974, 17,608 persons pleaded not guilty and 52 per cent. were acquitted. Figures for 1975 are not yet available.
