Mr. Anthony Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what amount of money has been paid or guaranteed since February 1974 to service industries to move to assisted areas; what is the number of firms which have received such assistance and the assisted area to which they have gone; and how many new jobs were created as a result.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

The following offers of assistance were made between 1st March 1974 and 31st December 1975 under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972 in respect of service industry projects moving to the assisted areas:

Information on payments since 1st March 1974 is not readily available. No guarantees have been offered in respect of service industry projects.

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, if any private companies have received grants or loans under the Industry Act 1972 or any other authority on the condition or with the qualification that they were once for all; and, if so, how many.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Three companies have received selective financial assistance on a once and for all basis. The once and for all condition applies only to selective financial assistance.
