HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 cc50-1W
43. Mr. Dykes

asked the Seretary of State for Industry what is his latest assessment of Concorde's prospects in terms of orders from national consumers other than British Airways and Air France, following the recent commencement of commercial flights.

Mr. Kaufman

A number of airlines have expressed an interest in Concorde, and good progress has been made with negotiations for the sale of two Concordes to Iranair. With Concorde now in airline service with British Airways and Air France and the United States' Secretary of State for Transportation having announced his decision on these airlines' applications for flying rights to New York and Washington, potential customers will be better able to assess the opportunities offered by purchasing and operating Concorde themselves.
