§ 46. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for Industry what steps he will take to encourage an increase in the number of apprentices in the North-West area.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerI have been asked to reply.
Following proposals by the Manpower Services Commission to strengthen the steps they have already taken, my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be announcing later this week further Government support for employment and training measures to counteract unemployment. I understand that the Training Services Agency is discussing with industrial training boards the action which may need to be taken in the North-West and elsewhere to encourage employers to recruit more apprentices and other trainees in 1976.
