HC Deb 05 February 1976 vol 904 c691W
Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Scotland Yard officers have been dismissed, demoted or charged with offences, respectively; and in which squads or sections they were operating at the time of the offences.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis informs me that during the two years ended 31st December 1975 four officers were charged with criminal—other than traffic—offences while serving at New Scotland Yard. One officer, from Traffic Division, was convicted and dismissed from the force; the others, from the Flying Squad, the Regional Crime Squad and Special Branch respectively, were acquitted. No officer was demoted.
