HC Deb 05 February 1976 vol 904 cc736-7W
Mr. Bryan Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what progress has been made by the Committee of Inquiry on Industrial Democracy which he announced on 3rd December 1975.

Mr. Shore

The Committee has held five meetings so far and holds its sixth this week. On 18th December the Committee requested written evidence from all interested parties to be submitted by 1st March. It has set this early date for the receipt of written evidence because of the tight timetable to which it is working. It is still anxious to hear from anyone with evidence to offer and hopes that anyone having difficulty in submitting evidence by 1st March will get in touch with the secretariat to see if an extension of the deadline can be arranged.

The Committee has also commissioned an analysis and evaluation of European experience of industrial democracy from Mr. Eric Batstone of Warwick University, and Mr. Paul Davies of Balliol College, Oxford. It hopes to receive their report by Easter.

The Committee is moving into its offices at 13 Bloomsbury Square, W.C.1, this week, and in future correspondence should be sent to this address.
