§ Mr. John FraserAt January 1976 the numbers unemployed in Batley and Morley employment office areas were 1,007 and 752 respectively. Percentage rates of unemployment can be calculated754W for travel-to-work areas as a whole but not separately for their constituent parts. The rate for the Dewsbury travel-to-work area, which includes Batley, was 5.3 per cent. and for the Leeds travel-to-work area, which includes Morley, 5.5 per cent. The rate for Great Britain was 6 per cent.
Rates of unemployment are calculated by expressing the number unemployed as a percentage of the estimated number of employees, including the unemployed.
