§ Mr. EnnalsThe countries already claiming a 200-mile fisheries limit were listed in my Written reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Caernarvon (Mr. Wigley) on 12th January. From public statements made at the Conference it appears that the concept of a 200-mile economic zone, within which the coastal State would have jurisdiction over,inter alia, fisheries, is supported by the majority of States at the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference, including the United Kingdom as part of a generally acceptable convention.
