HC Deb 04 February 1976 vol 904 cc627-8W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the number of proposals for wheelchair housing units, mobility housing units and sheltered housing units for people under 65 years of age, respectively, which have been submitted to his Department by local authorities in Scotland in the last 12 months; if he will list the number of starts and completions, respectively, by each authority in each category; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

Since the beginning of 1975 local authorities have submitted proposals for 55 wheelchair housing units or sheltered housing units specifically designed for physically handicapped people; the concept of mobility housing has not been adopted in Scotland. I do not at present have comprehensive information about starts and completions, but I intend in the near future to carry ducts of this kind. I have no experiments in view. I shall, however, keep the position under review and offer guidance if it seems desirable to do so.
