asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the current level of Government funding to Rolls-Royce for research and development of aero-engine noise suppression techniques.

Mr. Kaufman

Payments by Her Majesty's Government to Rolls Royce (1971) Ltd. during 1975–76 on programmes of general research on aeroengine noise and on programmes demonstrating practical aero-engine noise reduction technology are expected to total about £1.2 million.
