Mr. Ronald Bell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of employees of the National Health Service for whom accommodation is provided in property owned or controlled by the National Health Service.

Mr. Meacher

The latest available figures show that in the year ending 31st March 1973 some 76,000 single employees were provided with accommodation by health authorities. Housing is also available for married staff. In 1971, 13,700 units of this type were available.
