HC Deb 02 February 1976 vol 904 c440W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will indicate the number of tied agricultural cottages there are in the county of Bedfordshire.

Mr. Strang

The necessary information is not available. However, as explained in the Government's recent consultative document, agricultural tied cottages in England and Wales are mostly occupied by hired regular whole-time farm workers, about half of whom are housed in this way. If Bedfordshire were representative of this national situation there would be about 1,000 agricultural tied cottages in the county.
