asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he has given further consideration to the financing of a feasibility study for a Severn tidal barrage scheme.

My Department Is commissioning studies on two vital technical aspects of a Severn Barrage—the problem of making the closure and the extent to which the barrage would affect the tidal regime in the estuary. No further studies are planned at present.
