HC Deb 02 February 1976 vol 904 c425W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the judge's comments when sentencing Mrs. Maureen Toomey, and the effect that imprisonment will have on her child, he will recommend the exercising of the Prerogative of Mercy and release her from Holloway.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

Mrs. Toomey's domestic circumstances were known to the court and the judge took them into account when passing sentence. It would therefore not be right for my right hon. Friend to intervene. It is open to Mrs. Toomey to appeal against her sentence.
