§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection (1) what is her estimate of the costs of administering the licensing system introduced by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and of the profit or loss likely to arise after taking into account the revenue from the issue of licences;
(2) what is her estimate of the number of licences likely to be granted under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and of the cost to business of the resulting licence fees.
Mr. Alan WilliamsThese are matters for the Director General of Fair Trading and I am asking him to write to the hon. Member. However, costs incurred by the Director General in administering the licensing provisions of the Consumer Credit Act will be financed by fees charged under the Act.
