HC Deb 02 February 1976 vol 904 cc440-1W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action he proposes to take to protect food supplies in the Birmingham area following the breakdown in discussions between the city council and market traders over horticultural market rents; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peart

I regret that I cannot intervene in the discussions between the City of Birmingham District Council and its tenants over rents for the new wholesale horticultural market. I have arranged to be kept closely informed of developments if the market service is interrupted but supplies are already available through other channels which could be expected to adapt quickly to any change in circumstances.
