§ Dr. Glynasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the future of the Police Council following the withdrawal from it of the Police Federation of England and Wales and Northern Ireland; and how negotiations on pay and allowances will be conducted in these circumstances.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI have accepted that there should be a review of the negotiating machinery, but it would be premature to speculate upon the effect of this review on the future of the Police Council for the United Kingdom which is still the statutory body for the negotiation of police pay and allowances.
