asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the average gross weekly wage of manual workers employed in the United Kingdom for the last convenient period.

The estimated gross weekly earnings of full-time workers in Great Britain in April 1976 based on the New Earnings Survey, were:

Manual men aged 21 and over 65.10
Manual women aged 18 and over 39.40
The estimates relate to those whose pay for the Survey pay period was not affected by absence. They are gven to the nearest 10p and are subject to sampling error.
