What progress has been made towards setting up the independent inquiry into methods of investment appraisals for road schemes including traffic forecasts as proposed in paragraph 9.22 of the consultative document on Transport Policy.

My right honourable friend announced the setting up of the Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment on 10th December. Its chairman is to be Sir George Leitch. Other members will be announced shortly.
