§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if, in view of the Chancellor's statement on 15th December, she will announce her priorities for school building.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe 1976–77 and 1977–78 programmes for basic need school building were exempted from the measures announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Projects under the SPAR programme to assist reorganisation may directly or indirectly help to meet basic need and may continue together with some nursery 109W education projects. I regret that resources for primary and secondary improvements for the remainder of 1976–77 and for 1977–78 will be withdrawn and there will be no special education major programme in 1977–78.
