Mr. David Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when the resources of the NEB and the Scottish and Welsh Development Agencies will be increased; by how much; and how he expects these extra resources will create new jobs or additional investment.

In both 1977–78 and 1978–79 the public expenditure provisions for the NEB will be increased by £50 million to £275 million. These funds will be used by the NEB for industrial investment and reorganisation.

Questions on the Scottish and Welsh Development Agencies are for my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales respectively.
