§ Mr. Stephen Rossasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many homeless families were accommodated in bed-and-breakfast accommodation in each London borough, each Greater Manchester borough, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and Avon at 30th June 1976, 1st January 1976, 30th June 1975, 1st January 1975, 30th June 1974, 1st January 1974, and at the latest date for which figures are available.
§ Mr. ArmstrongFigures from the statistics which are collected by my Department show that the numbers of homeless households in the table bellow 135W were accommodated in various forms of temporary accommodation, including bed and breakfast accommodation, on 30th June 1975 and 31st December 1975 in the areas specified. Separate figures are not available about the numbers of those who were actually in bed and breakfast accommodation. My Department has been collecting these statistics only since 1st January 1974 for London and 1st January 1975 for the rest of England. The figures for homeless households accommodated in temporary accommodation in London on 30th June 1974 and 31st December 1974 are 4,450 and 4,940 respectively. Separate figures are not available for individual boroughs. I anticipate that the statistics for the first six months of 1976 will be available very early in the New Year.
