§ Mr. Dodsworthasked the Secretary of State for Energy under what circumstances payments are made to British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. and other agencies in respect of costs of compliance with security directives.
§ Mr. EadieDiscretionary payments are being made to British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. and Urenco Ltd. in respect of the cost of complying with directions given to those companies under the provisions of paragraph 5 of schedule 1 to the Nuclear Installations Act 1965 (as amended by the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971). These directions require the Companies to adopt the security procedures prescribed by the Atomic Energy Authority on behalf of the Government for the purpose of safeguarding information and material in the interests of national security.
