HC Deb 20 December 1976 vol 923 c70W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he intends to retain facilities and manpower on Tees-side for the introduction of a wealth tax at some future date; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how many jobs on Tees-side will be lost as a result of his decision not to proceed with the wealth tax.

Mr. Denzil Davies

An alternative use will be found for the accommodation on Tees-side in which it had been proposed to house about 200 staff administering wealth tax and capital transfer tax. Some of these would in due course have been recruited locally.
