§ Mr. Les HuckfieldThe information available relates to net central Government expenditure on research and development on industrial productivity and technology. It is given in Table 7A of "Research and Development-Expenditure and Employment" published by the Central Statistical Office as "Studies in Official Statistics No. 27", a copy of which is in the Library. The estimated expenditure in 1975–76 is equivalent to £2.6 per head of the population of the United Kingdom. Separate figures are not available for expenditure in England, Scotland and Wales. These figures do not include expenditure on research and development by public corporations, on which the latest available information is given in Tables 1A and 11 of the same publication.
