§ Mr. Ronald Atkinsasked the Secretary of State for Transport what contribution is to be made from nationalised industries for which he is responsible towards the savings announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 15th December.
§ Mr. William RodgersI have told the Chairman of British Rail that the cash limit on grant to the British Railways Board in 1977 will be reduced by £15 million. The Chairman shares my hope that this saving can be achieved by reductions in costs, and that it will not of itself require fare increases in 1977 additional to those already planned. The other nationalised industries for which I am responsible are not affected.
