HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 c580W
Mr. Graham Page

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he intends to make an order amending the Poultry Meat (Hygiene) Regulations 1976 so as to limit powers thereunder of entry to a dwelling-house to entry after giving 24 hours notice, without which limit the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments in its 30th Report of last Session (HC 54-xiii) considered the regulations to be an unusual use of the powers granted under the parent statutes.

Mr. Strang

My right hon. Friend intends, in the light of the Joint Committee's opinion, to bring Regulation 25 of these Regulations in line with Section 100(1) of the Food and Drugs Act 1955 on the first occasion that amendment of the Regulations becomes necessary. Meanwhile, we shall advise local authorities that they should give this notice.
