HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 c513W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister for Overseas Development if, in the interests of economy and efficiency, he will proceed forthwith with the transfer of his Department's Middle East Development Office from Amman to London.

Mr. Prentice

I am concerned that the Development Division should be able to play its part with maximum effectiveness in our aid programmes in the area. It has an excellent record and in my judgment this has been secured by keeping the division in the Middle East. I do not anticipate any change but I shall want to take account of the Central Policy Review Staff's review of overseas representation, to the extent that it may be relevant to this question.
