HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 cc496-7W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current scale of stockpile of vaccine in coping with the New Jersey influenza strain; and what discussions have recently taken place with the WHO.

Mr. Moyle

One million doses of the special monovalent influenza vaccine have been distributed to selected holding depots. This is in addition to the trivalent vaccine, which incorporates a New Jersey component, and is generally available. Information the Department has received from WHO and other sources indicates that there has been no spread of "swine influenza" in the United States or elsewhere since the original outbreak.
