asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is satisfied that British firms are always given an opportunity to tender for contracts by Government Departments and their agencies.

The policy followed by purchasing Departments is that whenever British firms are likely to be able to meet a public requirement they should be invited to tender for it.
