HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 c499W
Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if Derbyshire Area Health Authority is dismissing student nurses at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary at the end of their training; if so, how many are being dismissed; and why.

Mr. Moyle

No, the Derbyshire Area Health Authority has been able to offer posts in various hospitals within the area after successful completion of training to all student nurses recently qualified, but there are 20 pupil nurses recently qualified as enrolled nurses for whom there are no vacant posts available within the area.

The contract of student and pupil nurses with an employing authority is for the training period only.
