HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 cc504-5W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the discussions between his Department and the Advertising Standards Authority over the Virginia Slims cigarette advertisement supplied to him in October by the hon. Member for Wallasey.

Mr. Moyle

I understand that the Advertising Standards Authority has not agreed with the representations that the advertisement is in breach of the code for the advertising of cigarettes. This strengthens our view, which the Government have already expressed, that the present code does not go far enough. I have been told by the authority that a review of the code is taking place.
