HC Deb 09 December 1976 vol 922 c328W
24. Sir John Gilmour

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he intends to take to encourage expansion of the forestry industry.

Mr. Strang

The Government's forestry policy remains as it was clearly outlined in a ministerial statement on 5th July 1974—[Vol. 876, c.288–90]—following a major review. However, my right hon. Friend and his colleagues will be looking most carefully at the findings of the inter-Departmental review group recently set up to consider the question of how private forestry is affected by Government policies on taxation, grants and amenities.
