HC Deb 09 December 1976 vol 922 c298W
39. Mr. Clegg

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement concerning the negotiations currently taking place between the EEC Commission and third countries with regard to fishing rights and quotas.

Mr. Tomlinson

Negotiations with a number of third countries, including Norway, Iceland, the United States, Spain and Sweden, have already begun. Others, including Faroes and Canada, will begin very soon. They are being conducted by the Commission assisted by representatives of member States, and the agreements will be subject to approval by the Council of Ministers.
