The calculations have been based on OECD exports of these products which represented 95 per cent. of exports of engineering products by the market economies in 1973, the latest year for which such information is available. Engineering products have been taken as section 71 (non electric machinery), 72 (electric 287W machinery, apparatus and appliances), and 86 (professional, scientific and controlling instruments; photographic and optical goods, watches and clocks) of the Standard International Trade Classification.
