Mr. Durant

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the figures for emigration from Northern Ireland to (a) the Republic of Ireland and (b) England, Wales and Scotland since 1969.

Mr. Mason

It is estimated that there was net emigration of some 50,000 people from Northern Ireland to England, Wales and Scotland in the period 1969–1975. There is no evidence of substantial movement of population between Northern Ireland and the Republic in that period.

when the report by his Department's electrical adviser on electrical fatalities in the home in 1974 and 1975 will be published.
