§ 37. Miss Fookesasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will include in her investigation into educational standards the value of new mathematics as a preparation for university courses involving sound knowledge of mathematics.
§ Miss Margaret JacksonMathematics in relation to the teaching of the skills required to pursue profitably particular courses of further and higher education will be considered in the present consultations on the curriculum and standards. It will continue to be for the schools themselves to assess the potential value of new approaches to mathematics teaching.
