§ Mr. Crawfordasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current annual value to the Exchequer of the levy on the self-employed.
§ Mr. OrmeOnly 7.5 per cent. of the levy which represents a payment towards the cost of the National Health Service is paid over to the Exchequer, the remaining 92.5 per cent. goes to the National Insurance Fund. It is estimated that the total of Class 4 contributions in Great Britain in respect of the tax year 1975–76 will be about £78 million.
