§ Mr. David Huntasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will specify the number of businesses which participate in the Board of Inland Revenue's annual inquiry in January of each year and the method by which they are selected.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonAbout 27,000 businesses participated in the 1976 inquiry. Businesses are invited to take part where gross trading profits have, in any of the three preceding years, exceeded a specific figure, unless (a) the accounts 64W for the year ending in the 12 months to the following 31st March have already been received, or (b) the business is a company which takes part in the quarterly profits inquiry.
