Friend the Secretary of State for Energy are giving consideration to the future level of coal burn in Scottish power stations, in consultation with the National Coal Board and the South of Scotland Electricity Board, with a view to ensuring the viability of the coal mining industry in Scotland without imposing substantial additional costs on electricity consumers.
