§ Mr. Robert Taylorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many times the Inland Revenue has enforced distributions by private companies under the shortfall provisions in the fiscal years to 5th April, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1976, respectively, and to the latest convenient date in the current year.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonNeither the shortfall nor the apportionment provisions which succeeded them give the Inland Revenue power to enforce distributions. It is not known to what extent either close companies generally or those which are private companies may have increased their distributions to avoid shortfall assessments or apportionments.
