HC Deb 02 December 1976 vol 921 c260W
Mr. Cyril Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his Department's estimate of the number of persons who will be affected (a) by the proposal to claw back unemployment benefit paid to occupational pensioners and (b) by the proposal not to increase the earnings limit for retirement pensioners.

Mr. Orme

The latest estimates are that 16,000 persons will be affected by the proposal to restrict the unemployment benefit entitlement of occupational pensioners, and 95,000 families by the proposal not to increase the earnings limit for pensioners.
