HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1134W
Mr Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied with progress in identifying vacancies for young people in the Isle of Ely.

Mr. John Golding

Yes. The primary responsibility for assisting school leavers and other unemployed young people to obtain employment rests with the local education authorities' careers service. Officers of the Cambridgeshire Careers Service which covers the city of Ely and surrounding area have shown commendable initiative in their extensive canvassing of local employers in order to identify employment opportunities suitable for young people. Young people can also avail themselves of the placing services provided by the Employment Service Agency.
