HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 cc1046-7W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has given an assurance to the South Ayrshire Health Council that there will be no delay in building the South Ayrshire District General Hospital, that the project will not be affected by the new public spending cuts, and that a start will be made on building in the next four or five years.

Mr. Harry Ewing

My right hon. Friend has given no assurance to the South Ayrshire Local Health Council, which will be kept informed of developments by the Ayrshire and Arran Health Board. The South Ayrshire District General Hospital is at the preliminary stage of planning and it is not possible yet to give any forecast of the starting date.
