HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 cc1045-6W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects the Civil Service review of the working of the National Council of Social Service to be implemented: and what changes are to take place.

Dr. Summerskill

This is entirely a matter for the NCSS, on whose behalf the Civil Service Department undertook the review. I understand, however, that several of the major recommendations in the review team's report have already been implemented and that the remainder are being considered in consultation with other organisations which will be affected by them.

Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what he anticipates the role of the Central Committee of Standing Conferences of Councils Voluntary Service to be in the light of NCSS reorganisation.

Dr. Summerskill

It is for the Central Committee itself to decide, in consultation with the NCSS, what its future role should be.
