HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 cc1050-1W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Prime Minister whether he will issue a general direction to his Ministers that they are to inform Members when they become aware that the direct telephone numbers of their private offices appearing in the Palace of Westminster telephone directory, though producing a ringing tone, are claimed not to ring in the private office, so that Members will not waste their time waiting for an answer that never comes.

The Prime Minister

Direct telephone numbers of Ministers' private offices were included in the latest edition of the House Directory as a convenience to Members. The numbers will be checked for the next edition. In the meantime, the hon. Gentleman should bring specific complaints to the attention of the relevant Department and the Serjeant at Arms.
